Gold Coast Marches To Victory

The weekend of 8, 9 & 10th June will certainly be long remembered as a weekend when the Gold Coast Squadron came of age within the Queensland Group. With almost 100% attendance from its 23 cadet members it was possible to enter every available drill competition and many of the individual modelling and education categories.

The muddy parade ground and occasional shower of rain did not dampen spirits as our cadets enthusiastically prepared themselves for competition events; ensuring uniforms were in order and shoes shined.

This dedication was rewarded on Saturday evening following the Group Review dinner when results of the various competitions were announced. Gold Coast Squadron cadets placed first in almost every drill competition. Our very impressive Squadron Education display again stood out and won first place and not to be outdone our talented Branch Administration committee also were acknowledged with a first place. With a total of 19 first places 6 seconds and 3 third placing Gold Coast Squadron achieved the Grand Aggregate Award as the most successful squadron at the review.

A wonderful outcome for this squadron which was only re-established in September 2010. The Gold Coast Squadron meets Fridays 6.45pm – 9pm at Pacific Pines Community Centre. Contact Squadron O.C. Walter Savell 5502 9138 or oc.goldcoast@airleague.com.au for more information.
