Two Squadrons have recently added to a strong series of grant funding wins for the Queensland Group over recent years with over seven thousand dollars being made available through the Australian Government Volunteer Grants program in July 2013.

Volunteers are critical to Air League operations, both as Officers and parent helpers.

Hervey Bay and Southport Squadrons have received funding to assist the vital contributions of volunteers to their operation through allocations for fuel expenses, equipment and training.

“Volunteers are critical to Air League operations, both as Officers and parent helpers. Through these Volunteer Grants we can recognise the value of their contributions, improve our efficiency and maximise outcomes. The efforts of our many volunteers enable us to expand the range of activities available to Cadets and often allow our youth members to access opportunities otherwise unaffordable or unavailable to the general community” notes Group Executive Commissioner, Allan Burgess.

This financial boost comes on the back of a string of funding successes for the Group over the last two years, which includes large Queensland Government Gambling and Community Benefit Fund and Volunteer Grant successes for Gold Coast Squadron, Southport Squadron and the Queensland Group.

Group Development Officer, Tim Rosen adds “Encouraging community engagement, promoting financial sustainability and producing polished communications, including promotional material & funding applications, has been a key focus at recent Queensland Group Advanced Officer Training Courses. It is fantastic to see Queensland Squadrons realising such substantial benefit from putting this into action”.
