In February 2015, Federal Operations Circular 1/15 was issued calling for expressions of interest in the position of Assistant to each of the, then, six current Federal Commissioners for a period of twelve months commencing 1 July 2015.

The primary aim of this initiative was to identify and develop leadership talent, and enable junior officers to contribute to the Air League in a strategic capacity for a defined period.

Four appointments were made under this initiative.

After the initial appointment of twelve months, each of the four were re-appointed for a second twelve-month term from 1 July 2016.

The full term of the appointments having been served, it is now necessary to call for expressions of interest for each of these positions, details can be found in Federal Operations Circular 1/17.
