2011 Cadet of the Year visits South Australia

Air League male  Cadet of the Year for 2011, W/O Simon Dean, visited Adelaide recently to attend the South Australia Wing Annual Presentation Ceremony.

Simon, along with Federal Finance Commissioner, Commissioner Ray King, MSA, spoke to an audience of over 170 guests, parents and cadets at the UniSA Mawson Centre, including  two local Mayors and WGCDR Martin Ball from the RAAF Edinburgh Base.

While in South Australia, Simon also enjoyed a one hour scenic flight, courtesy of the Gawler Aero Club, visited the South Australia Aviation Museum in Port Adelaide and toured the Barossa Valley for a Christmas Luncheon with SA Officers before heading back to Hervey Bay in Queensland. Newly promoted Wing Captain Kyle Laing, OC South Australia Wing and former COTY in 2006, hosted the visit to Jacob’s Creek … two COTY in one place … as they say in South Australia, “a perfect blend”. Afterwards, Group Commissioner Tom Short, Federal Training Commissioner and former OC SA Wing said the weekend had been a tremendous success, not only for recognising Simon’s achievement as 2011 COTY, but also for the SA cadets who were very keen to meet him.
