Cadets from several Queensland Squadrons will again represent the Australian Air League and Queensland Group at the upcoming Aviation Careers Expo on Saturday August 24th, 2013.
Two Squadrons have recently added to a strong series of grant funding wins for the Queensland Group over recent years with over seven thousand dollars being made available through the Australian Government Volunteer Grants program in July 2013.
The personnel of Queensland Group staff were joined by the Chief Commissioner and the Federal Training Commissioner in July for a two day strategic planning workshop to identify key needs and goals for the Australian Air League in Queensland and align these with the Federal “Strategic Directions” plans and outcomes.
Each year the Australan Government provides grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to enable organisations to purchase small equipment items to assist volunteers and contribute towards reimbursement of cost. This year seven Air League Squadrons were successful in applying for these grants and the money will assist the volunteers who give their time and energy to help out in their local community.
The successful Squadron in 2013 were Berwick, Fairfield, Gawler Airfield, Port Adelaide, Hervey Bay, Southport and Moorabbin Air Museum Squadron. Details of the successful grants can be seen on the FaHCSIA website.
