Child Safe Commitment

The Australian Air League Inc. (AAL) is committed to promoting and protecting the best interests of children involved in its programs, and to providing a child-safe and child-friendly environment for all children and young people who engage with the AAL.

The Australian Air League is committed to complying with the Child Safe Standards introduced by the Australian Government, which set out the compulsory minimum standards for organisations that provide services for children and young people (or are used by children and young people), to help protect them from harm.

The Australian Air League has a zero tolerance to child abuse and neglect in any form.

We support the rights of children. They have the right to take part in the AAL in a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment, where they are respected and valued. Child safety and protection remain a priority for the AAL now and into the future.

The Australian Air League supports the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Island young people by acknowledging and respecting their cultural diversity, building trusting and meaningful relationships, listening to communities and the young people we support, learning and sharing our stories to build opportunities in which every individual contributes to creating a better future.

The AAL Child Safety Policy, Child Safety Code of Conduct and Procedure has been developed based on the following principles:

  1. The AAL has zero tolerance for child harm or abuse.
  2. The AAL will build and maintain a child safe culture and environment where:
  • the best interests of the child are paramount
  • child protection is a shared responsibility.
  • all children have a right to feel safe and be safe, and every child has an equal right to protection from abuse.
  1. The AAL will consider the opinions of children and use their opinions to develop child safety policies and procedures.
  2. d) Everyone covered by the Policy must also comply with AAL’s Child Safety Code of Conduct, which sets stringent standards for personal behaviour where adult members understand they are responsible for the care and protection of the children within our care and their obligation to report information about suspected child abuse.

Any person who believes a child is at immediate risk of abuse must contact the Police (telephone 000).
