Dick Smith donates to charity
At the end of 2016, Australian business Dick Smith announced a raft of charity donations to Australian charities including Rotary and the Salvation Army, as well as a number of aviation organisations. The donations came from the proceeds of the sale of his Cessna Citation business jet, which was becoming prohibitively expensive to maintain in Australia.
The Australian Air League Air Activities Centre at Camden NSW received $5,000 which will go towards improving the participation level in aviation in Australia. Full details can be found on the Australian Flying magazine website
Since learning to fly in 1972, Dick Smith has been an enthusiastic supporter of aviation in Australia and completed a number of first including the first solo helicopter flight around the world.
