National Youth Volunteer Week 2026
Celebrating Our Cadets During National Youth Volunteer Week
August 10 – 16, 2026
National Youth Volunteer Week has arrived, with this year’s theme focused on celebrating the energy, ideas, and impact of young volunteers across Australia. While young people nationwide are stepping up to create positive change, the Australian Air League recognises that its own cadets are not waiting for tomorrow to make a difference -they are already leading the way today.
The Australian Air League is built on a foundation of community, discipline, and service. This week provides an ideal opportunity to recognise the incredible contributions Air League cadets make, both within their individual Squadrons and throughout the wider community.
Service Above Self
Cadets in the Australian Air League do not just learn about aviation, they learn what it means to be active, responsible citizens. Whether participating in local Anzac Day services, assisting at community events, raising funds for local charities, or mentoring junior members within their Squadrons, Air League cadets consistently demonstrate what it means to lead by example.
Through these acts of service, these young members are:
- Building Community: Representing the Air League at events within their community
- Developing Leadership: Taking on NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) roles to mentor younger cadets, proving that youth is no barrier to inspiring others
- Creating Positive Change: Committing to community rather than just personal recreation
Recognising Dedication
Volunteering Australia notes that young people are actively “leading projects, supporting communities, and responding to emergencies” across the nation. This spirit is evident in Squadrons every single week.
The Air League would like to extend its thanks to every cadet for their effort. Their ongoing dedication not only strengthens the Australian Air League but enriches the local communities in which these cadets live.
It is also important to recognise the Officers, Associate members and parents who create the safe, welcoming, and rewarding environments for these young people to thrive in. Without their guidance and supervision, these opportunities would not be possible.
