On the evening of  30th July Lilydale Squadron of the Australian Air League celebrated it’s 40th birthday with an open night attended by a number of guests.

Amongst the guests were former Squadron OCs Chris Daly and Damian Poar. Damian is now a member of the RAAF and a ground crew member of the Roulettes Aerobatic Team. He explained to the cadets what it was like working in the Roulettes during a question and answer session and they were enthralled by a video of the Roulettes in action.

The Squadron was also presented with an autographed photo of the Roulettes flying over Uluru that will take pride of place at the Squadron.

Later in the evening supper was served and a birthday cake shared among cadets and guests. The Squadron also received a “birthday present” in the form of a beautiful trophy including a model DC-3.
